15 Things We Need To See In Apple’s Next Phone
Remember the days when you really had to pick up a landline phone to call family and friends? Those days are long gone thanks to the Apple iPhone, the device that revolutionized the way we communicate with each other.
For most people, you can’t utter the word “smartphone” without immediately thinking of iPhone, and for good reason. The first iPhone debuted on January 9, 2007 and captivated the world. Since then, more than 1 billion iPhones have been sold worldwide, and Apple continues to add new features to help the device gain momentum in the global smartphone market.
From the introduction of Siri to the introduction of Touch ID fingerprint recognition, Apple is constantly striving to improve its iPhone. At the same time, Apple understands that the iPhone is a work in progress, and even the iPhone 7 is far from perfect. Lucky for Apple, we’re here to point out some of the best ways to improve your iPhone.
When it comes to improving the iPhone, there is a lot of work ahead. Now, here’s a look at 15 things we want to see in the next iPhone.
01. BRING BACK THE IPHONE HEADPHONE JACK
AirPods are wireless headphones from Apple that stay connected to your iPhone 7 at all times. These wireless headphones look good and work well, but they’re not for everyone. Fortunately, if you have been using traditional headphones for years, you can connect them to your iPhone 7 if you have the appropriate headphone jack connector.
Perhaps most of all, we’d like to see Apple ditch the headphone jack connector on the next iPhone. Instead, give iPhone users the option to use their AirPods or headphones whenever they want — something those who prefer headphones over AirPods will appreciate.
02. LET US STORE ALL OF OUR PICTURES AND VIDEOS ON OUR IPHONES
When Apple unveiled the iPhone 7, the company seemed to take a cue from the storage issues associated with the iPhone 6. Apple launched the iPhone 7 with devices starting with 32GB of storage, up from the 16GB storage minimum. iPhone 6. But with the constant push of 4K Ultra HD (UHD) video, it’s easy for just about anyone to quickly fill their iPhone with a wide variety of videos.
If Apple expands the storage space on the next iPhone, users will have no problem keeping all their photos and videos on their mobile devices. Or, if Apple offers an easy way to add storage to the next iPhone, consumers are sure to be happy with that, too.
03. GIVE US THE POWER TO KEEP OUR IPHONES RUNNING ALL DAY – AND BEYOND
Okay, so we’re not saying the iPhone 7’s battery life is bad, we’re just saying it could be a lot better.
iPhone 7 has a non-removable Li-Ion 1960 mAh battery which is quite powerful. In fact, the iPhone 7 battery provides up to 14 hours of talk time and an average of 40 hours of music playback.
But for those who want to go at least a few days before needing to recharge their mobile device, the iPhone 7 battery just isn’t worth it. Hopefully, Apple will heed our call to extend battery life, as this has been an issue with iPhones dating back to the very first iPhone.
04. LET US TAKE THE IPHONE UNDERWATER
iPhone 7 is splash and water resistant, which means if you spill a small amount of liquid on your device, it will probably be fine. This is all well and good, but what if you forgot to take the device out of your pocket before swimming? In all likelihood, your iPhone will be damaged, no matter how much rice you use to dry your device.
Smartphone case manufacturers like OtterBox have proven waterproof cases to be beneficial. If Apple adds a waterproof case for the next iPhone, we don’t have to worry about paying an extra $50 or more to get an OtterBox case to protect our devices from water damage.
05. MAKE IT EASY FOR US TO PERSONALIZE OUR IPHONE MESSAGES
iOS 10 takes iPhone Messages customization to the next level and offers handwriting capabilities — that is, if you want to use your finger to write messages.
The Apple Pencil now gives iPad users the ability to write messages by hand comfortably and easily, and the addition of Apple Pencil capabilities could make a huge difference for iPhone users as well.
Imagine taking notes in class on your iPhone or handwriting a letter to a close friend – all without having to grab a pen and paper. With the capabilities of the Apple Pencil, iPhone users will be able to write personalized messages seamlessly.
06. ADD USB-C CAPABILITIES
USB-C is now the gold standard for most smartphones. The USB-C connector enables smartphone users to transfer both power and data. Meanwhile, Apple has developed Lightning and MagSafe connectors that connect exclusively to Apple products.
It may only be a matter of time before Lightning and MagSafe cables become obsolete, and we’re crossing our fingers as Apple adds USB-C capabilities to its next iPhone. Failing to do so could be a huge missed opportunity for Apple, especially if the company hopes to build trust with new iPhone users in the near future.
07. PROVIDE WIRELESS CHARGING
At this point, why force anyone to plug their mobile device into a specific outlet to recharge it?
Wireless charging isn’t the future of smartphone technology anymore – it’s here. However, Apple is yet to add wireless charging features to its iPhone.
Going forward, it would be wise for Apple to include wireless charging in its upcoming iPhone. This will allow iPhone users to recharge their devices over the air without having to go anywhere near a plug or dock. As a result, the addition of wireless charging could help Apple take the next step with its iPhone.
08. GO WITH AN EDGE-TO-EDGE DISPLAY
Sony and Samsung are among the major players offering edge-to-edge screens on their devices. These screens transform ordinary viewing experiences into extraordinary experiences on devices small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
iPhone 7 features a Retina HD display that’s 25% brighter than iPhone 6 displays, along with better color management for higher quality. But just imagine what the iPhone 7 would look like with a screen that covers the entire front of the device or even wraps around the back. If Apple can turn this dream into reality, it is sure to make many iPhone users very happy.
09. MAKE THE IPHONE SHATTER-PROOF
Unfortunately, iPhone 7 screen breakage is not uncommon. If you get out of bed sleep-deprived and accidentally drop your iPhone on a hardwood floor, chances are the screen will shatter, leaving you with an expensive repair bill.
We understand that the iPhone is an easy-to-use smartphone, so we understand that a military-grade screen can be asking for a lot. But is it too much to ask that the iPhone screen be improved to such an extent that we don’t have to worry about the screen breaking if the device falls out of our hands? Please Apple, make the iPhone shatterproof, we will be forever grateful.
10. REVAMP THE IPHONE DESIGN
The iPhone doesn’t need a design overhaul, but taking the device’s industrial design in a new direction certainly wouldn’t hurt.
For example, the iPhone 7’s new home button was a pleasant surprise, and Apple’s decision to add vibrations through the home button was nothing short of remarkable. But when you compare the iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy and other smartphones, the iPhone’s design falls short. And if Apple can add small but meaningful changes to the design of the upcoming iPhone, the company can improve the iPhone to the point where the device is the better choice for smartphone buyers.
11. UPGRADE THE CAMERA
Apple has gone above and beyond Call of Duty to improve the iPhone camera over the years. The iPhone 7 has a 7-megapixel front camera that offers optical image stabilization and other advanced features, while the iPhone 7 Plus has a dual-lens camera with a zoom feature that uses two 12-megapixel rear cameras. cameras
Apple has clearly prioritized iPhone camera upgrades in the past and will likely look for additional camera improvements. If the company continues to invest in excellent smartphone camera technology, the upcoming iPhone could cater to hobbyists and photography experts alike.
12. PROVIDE A 4K UHD DISPLAY
If you are trying to check for Facebook updates or browse the web on your iPhone 7, your device’s resolution might be better. Apple has shown that it wants iPhone 7 users to produce 4K UHD videos, but the iPhone 7 lacks the screen needed to display those videos in their full glory.
Going for a 4K UHD display could lift the next iPhone. This display will make it easier for users to record, edit and watch 4K UHD videos on their iPhone and enjoy the full beauty associated with 4K UHD. Also, iPhone users will not have to worry about poor resolution if they use their device to browse the web daily thanks to the 4K UHD display.
13. TAKE THE IPHONE’S PROCESSOR TO NEW HEIGHTS
For those who feel the need for speed, iPhone 7 offers a faster processor than most Android devices. But it’s important to keep in mind that Apple designs its software and hardware side by side. So while the iPhone 7’s processor is fast, it appears to be inferior – at least on paper – to the processors in many Android devices.
Apple understands that there is always room for improvement, especially when it comes to processor speed. Thus, Apple can invest in iPhone processor improvements to ensure that users can quickly and easily download videos, access web content, and more.
14. OFFER VIRTUAL REALITY CAPABILITIES
Gear VR and other virtual reality devices provide mobile gamers with unparalleled experiences. Although Apple introduced a virtual reality starter pack last year, the company hasn’t gone all out to deliver an amazing virtual reality experience. But all this may change with the next iPhone.
The demand for mobile virtual reality games is expected to increase over the next few years, and Apple will not ignore the opportunities in the virtual reality market. If Apple wants to win with mobile gamers, the company should consider adding iPhone VR capabilities. And who knows, adding virtual reality capabilities to iPhones could allow Apple to cast mobile players on virtual Siri as well.
15. LOWER THE PRICE
Let’s face it – you’ll likely need to break the bank to buy any iPhone. Today, the base iPhone 7 costs $649, or you can buy the iPhone 7 Plus for $769. It’s asking a lot of Apple to upgrade its iPhone without increasing the price — we get it. But we also understand that Apple is known for making the impossible a reality.
If there is a company that can offer a high-end smartphone at a budget-friendly price point, it is Apple. And if Apple can maintain the price of the next iPhone, consumers around the world may take a chance on the latest and greatest iPhone.
